Good morning Americans it's Friday. How goes it's by you? Yeah, that's that's a way we can say this how goes it's by you My name is Michael crows and this is a daily grateful and you ever have Challenges that just sort of pop into your life and you're you're just kind of you know I've had a bunch of those this year I don't know why but 2024 has been the year of whole bunch of challenges and somehow some way Some strange bizarre way. I have pulled out of my rear end a way to solve all of those challenges be they big challenges be they little challenges.
Let me tell you the latest one I Well, I have to go back in time just a little bit in 2013. I had a little hip cup The little hiccup was on December 1st of 2013 I had to go pick my daughter up downtown Clearwater, which was about I don't know six seven minutes from my house She called and asked if I would come get her from a meeting I said yeah, and then I had to go to the bathroom So I went to the bathroom and I hop in my little car and I'd in my SUV at the time. It was on a Santa Fe I remember that and I drive down and then all of a sudden I mean all of a sudden I had a pee like real bad So there was a convenience store just before I had to get to where she's and I said I'm gonna get out and go pee real fast Am I talking about pee on my podcast? I anyway, I hop out of the car and I look down I don't know why I look down but I look down at my khaki shorts and they were all red and I said Oh, that's not good because they were khaki they weren't read but they were read now They weren't read when I left the house and then the next thing you knew I was in pain And the next thing you knew I hop back in my car and I go down and I get my daughter And she was oh come on I want you to talk to some people I know and we got to go and She's like well, you know, I said look and she oh and bless her heart.
I wanted to go home Yeah, I wanted to go home and she said no, we're about three minutes from the hospital. We're gonna go there and then I don't know about Three days later. I had four general anesthesia With four major procedures at the end of which a kidney was gone in an 18-pound tumor to go with it at which point a big recovery process I'm gonna tell you the hardest thing that I had to recover from was for general anesthesia's and It is now what 11 years later almost 10 and a half years later I still have that one thing that is left from the general anesthesia and that is a Absolute fear of filling out forms. I don't know why and I absolutely have to concentrate on filling out a form On the computer or a piece of paper anything like that just totally freaks me out So let's fast forward to now where I still have that obnoxious fear Which I can't get over by the way, I used to design websites for fun and frolicking and I can't do that You know why designing websites a lot of what designing websites is all about is filling out forms I've actually done one website since then and it's a web it was a simple website that should have taken me an hour and it took me Two days and I haven't gone back to do another one.
I probably should cuz I enjoyed it anyway Fast forward to now. I've been in wonderful health just absolutely wonderful health and but I'm I wanted to lose some weight So I saw this little trial that I could take this, you know You can get on this trial and they have a GLP one Pill that they wanted you to try you on and they were going to pay me to do it and I said wow and that was fine But only half the people got the pill the other half that people got a placebo. I said okay. Well, that's free and plus They're paying me.
So I went there and he did blood work on me as part of all of this They were the nicest people I was so enjoying this and then they called me up and he said mr. Gross. I said yeah, you can't be part of our thing I said why and I said you're a one C and I said what you're a one C Well, we want it to be say around seven or at the very highest seven and a half or sometimes even up to eight But yours was 11.6 and that's critical You need to go see your doctor and we can't help you and I said whoo now I have a son who's a type one diabetic and he keeps his a one C You know low because he's doing insulin every day and you know lots of maintenance I all of a sudden was a type two diabetic. I went to my doctor I'm gonna follow every day.
I'm really have because here I am now in my you know in my 70s. I'm on zero medication I'm you know for the most part feeling really good getting a little tired because I'm old but you know I'm doing good and I hadn't had anything happen to me Health wise since that will wake up in 2013 so I said golly gee, you know Tell me what to do tell me what to do and she said I think you should go on something called ozimpic It's a GLP one. I said oh, yeah, that's you know, and she said I think it will solve your problem But she'll lose weight and I said okay. I'm more concerned about the a1c You know and she goes yeah, we gotta get that below seven You know, so let's get you started on this and she gave me a three month supply She handed me a three month supply as you know samples She just gave me these samples and I said okay That's good And then she said here's a script do get the script filled as soon as possible And I think she wanted me to get the script filled as soon as possible so that the drug rep will see that the free samples were You know, I guess I mean I'm just thinking I don't know I don't know so I did I filled it with my insurance and it was a hundred and I think a hundred and thirty dollars for a three month supply.
I said okay, I can do that So then you know, I come back when that's all done And by the way the stuff is I went from 11.5 or 6 or wherever it was and the next time they tested it I was down to 8.1 So we're going in the right direction and so and we're moving along and then the next time I bought the ozempic it went to 270 dollars and I said oh okay, and they said you're heading towards something called the donut hole I still don't understand it. I don't want to understand it. So I told my doctor and she said I listen the makers of ozempic since you are Retired and I wish I was retired but since you are, you know that age and you're you if you go on this website We'll start our the application on our end and you go to this website and fill out this little thing and everything will be fine I said okay, and you know what happens if you get approved for this is you get a four months supply since you us every four months And it doesn't cost you anything. I said, oh, I like that So anyway, I come back and it's also time for me to buy ozempic again And I called up the drug store and I said yes, it's only six hundred and ninety dollars for a three months supply So I started to fill out this form and I'm telling you I don't do well on forms, and I'm just having a horrible time.
My son helped me the sack my son He knows about this. He knows about my this phobia. I have about forms now that I need to get over and I need to see I need to see something I need to I need to do something about that But he walked me through he sat back there with me and I'm like the anxiety You just don't know I was and he walked me through that and then I got to a point in the form where it says we need your doctor's email address. I said, okay, I can't do this until tomorrow.
I'll call tomorrow but I left it open on the computer that I have in the other room of the house and I You know, looked on the website for my doctor Did you know that doctors don't give out email addresses? They don't give out email addresses So I called my doctor the next day and I left a message and they said you know to you know You have to talk to other people and there's a guy there that handles all that so I left a message for him I said I'm at the point now where I have to have an email address from you and I You know can't go any further until I do that I need you to do this didn't hear from them that was yesterday Today I called back again this morning and again left the same message. I said I can't do anything until this All right, I figured out a way to make it work. That's one of the things I'm good at is figuring out a way to make it work Is it the proper way to do it?
Well? Oh, well, I think it is I have I go on something called the portal to look at all my medical stuff And I got an email from my doctors, you know But the email address they sent it from was something doctor via portal I use that email address and it worked and then the rest of the form was easy and all of my you know I was like stressing putting that email address because I didn't know if it would work or not You know any afternoon this afternoon. I called the doctor's office again, and they were closed They won't be open to my best. I just use that email.
I got formed on I got it sent in and now I can breathe So manage be able better. Oh goodness so The moral of the story is work through your fears work take these things that jumble you up in that jumbled me up And you just I'm sitting here confessing to you. That had me so screwed up. Oh gosh And it's such an important thing, and I'm sitting there saying $690 for three months I called the pharmacy today because I'm out and I said I said can I buy one month and I said yeah We'll do that so I went and spent $230 today for one month, and hopefully this thing will get approved by them.
