Sister Rosetta Tharpe. La madre del rock&roll. Desde su Arkansas natal llevo todo su gospel con toques blues por lo largo y ancho del país. En los años 30 y 40 fue la artista gospel que más vendió. Influencia clara de artistas como Little Richard, Johny Cash, Chuck Berry, Elvis o Jerry Lee Lewis. Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Rosetta Tharpe, precursora del Rock&Roll como lo conocemos. No tan alabada como Billie Holiday o Ella Fitgerald.Una carrera que comienza en los años 30 hasta su muerte en 1973. Llevo su guitarra y su voz a un gospel con toques rock a convertirse en un icono y en la madre del Rock&Roll moderno. Phonotoner recupera una recopilación del sello Shellac de 2019. En ella podemos encontrar grabaciones de los años 1956 a 1961.En 1951 en Washington D.C lleno el estadio Griffith con más de 25000 personas, un hito para una artista de la época. Denostada por los puristas del Gospel por su manera de tocar y cantar pero admirada por los amantes del buen blues y rock&roll. Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
