Pick Your Rip-Off

Anisha doubles down on her most controversial luxury-travel opinion: the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is not a yacht. It is a very expensive cruise, and for the same money, you may be better off chartering privately in Croatia, Turkey, Montenegro or Albania. Then the Italy trip continues from Sardinia to Sicily, where Anisha breaks down her personal travel philosophy: the destination matters, but so does the hotel, the bathroom, the flight time and whether getting to the beach requires four hours in a car and a spiritual breakdown. She reviews Taormina’s most famous luxury hotels, explains why The White Lotus made her less interested in the Four Seasons San Domenico Palace, and shares the newly renovated beachfront hotels she would actually book while they are still fresh. There is also Mount Etna fruit, pistachio everything, three-hundred-euro lounge chairs, European heat, a Goodfellas-style driver, Bam Bar granita, fresh cannoli, orange-and-pistachio pasta and the realization that everyone on your luxury Italian vacation is part of the same demographic.
