Pickleball Club Rumor + Light Rail to Seattle & Best Arborist in Redmond

from Best of Redmond: Redmond Washington News, Events, Restaurants & Things to Do

Welcome to Best of Redmond! Redmond's twice-weekly newsletter and podcast about all the amazing things happening in Redmond for the next seven days!📰 Light Rail Now Crosses Lake Washington Okay, so this is a big one. As of last week, the Sound Transit 2 Line is officially running across Lake Washington, connecting Downtown Redmond to Seattle for the first time by rail. This is the first time anywhere in the world that light rail runs across a floating bridge, which is kind of wild when you think about it. It also means you can now bike to the Downtown Redmond station, hop on the train, and be in Seattle without dealing with traffic. If you're trying it out, grab coffee at Five Stones or River Trail Roasters right by the stops.🎧 90s Silent Disco at the Library There’s a 90s-themed silent disco happening Wednesday, April 1 from 6:00 to 7:30pm at the Redmond Library. They’re handing out wireless headphones so you can pick your music channel and dance… quietly… while everyone else is doing the same thing. It’s part of their adult reading program, but honestly this feels more like a throwback party with snacks and costumes encouraged. If you still have flannel or a denim jacket, now’s your moment.☕ Small Business Saturday at SoulFood Small Business Saturday is happening Saturday, April 4 from 9:00am to 12:00pm at SoulFood CoffeeHouse. They host this the first Saturday of every month, bringing in local vendors and small businesses right into the coffee shop space. You can grab your usual drink and browse everything from handmade goods to local services while you’re there. Go early if you want first pick before things start selling out.🎉 Old Fire House Teen Center Celebration There’s a community celebration happening Saturday, April 4 from 2:00 to 6:00pm at the Old Fire House Teen Center. They’re basically saying goodbye to the current building before it gets redeveloped, and they’re inviting the community to share memories, photos, and stories from over the years. If you grew up here, this place probably meant something to you. Might be worth stopping by just to see it one last time.👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Eggcellent at the Farm Eggcellent at the Farm is happening Saturday, April 4 from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Farrel-McWhirter Park. This one’s for kids ages 2 to 12, and they’re going all out with egg hunts, pony rides, crafts, and even a scavenger hunt through the forest. There’s also snacks and music, so it’s basically a full morning activity. Dress for mud… seriously.🐾 Dog Easter Egg Hunt at Petco There’s a dog-friendly Easter egg hunt happening Saturday, April 4 starting at 2:00pm at your local Petco. They’re hiding treat-filled eggs around the store and your dog gets to sniff them out, which honestly sounds like chaos in the best way. It’s while supplies last, so it’s more of a casual drop-in than a structured event. Bring a leash and maybe don’t show up right at peak crowd if your dog gets overwhelmed.🚴 Bike + Light Rail Just Became a Real Thing Hey Redmond riders… this is a big one. As of last week, the Sound Transit 2 Line is officially running across Lake Washington, which means you can now bike from Downtown Redmond straight onto light rail and get to Seattle without touching traffic. This is the first time light rail has ever crossed a floating bridge anywhere, and yeah, it’s as cool as it sounds. The Downtown Redmond and Marymoor stops make this super accessible if you’re riding in. If you're testing the route, hit Five Stones Coffee or River Trail Roasters right by the stations.🔮 Redmond Rumor Mill Okay, here’s what we’re hearing this week… a boutique pickleball club might be coming somewhere near the 164th Ave corridor. Not a big-box gym. More like private courts, a bar, monthly memberships… kind of a whole social scene built around pickleball. We don’t know the exact location yet, timing, or even what it’ll be called. But if this is real… where do you think it’s going? If you've got a guess or have heard something, head to our Facebook page at facebook.com/BestOfRedmond and drop it in the "Redmond Rumor Mill Guesses" post.🗳️ Your Picks: Best arborist/tree trimmer in Redmond Alright, that's it for this week.
