Pickwick Papers Chapter II

In which we accompany the estimable Mr Pickwick and his companions on their inaugural journey to Rochester, encountering a most loquacious stranger and witnessing the peculiar social amusements of the town, including a lively assembly of local dignitaries and military personages. The narrative then takes a more serious turn with a gentlemanly challenge issued and accepted, leading to a somewhat comical yet earnest arrangement for a duel, tested by the steadfast friendship and good humour of those involved.
