Piggyback Pitching Ends in Sweep
from Spokane News Today | 2 Min | The Daily News Now!
The Mariners pulled off a stunning three-game sweep of Arizona with a gutsy piggyback pitching experiment that worked like a charm—Bryce Miller shut down the bats for five innings, then Luis Castillo held strong in relief, leading to a walk-off win in extra innings. The offense delivered with homers from Cole Young and Dominic Canzone, fueling their sixth straight win. While the unconventional strategy and communication hiccups made it messy, the results were undeniable. Now, with a brutal 16-game-in-17-days stretch ahead, they’re switching to a six-man rotation—putting the piggyback talk on pause for now.
