In the early 1870s, tensions between Pennsylvania coal miners and mine owners reaches a fever pitch. Poor working conditions for little pay results in a bitter dispute between labor and management. Making matters worse, a group of Irish immigrants called the Molly Maguires have taken violent measures against management.
