Pioneers

Originally Aired: December 16, 1938The Lone Ranger #919, "Pioneers," finds tension mounting along the Rojos River, where Dana Sturgis and his band of settlers have established a farming community across from the ancient adobe village of the superstitious Zuni Indians. When the Zunis suddenly launch a war party across the river in their canoes, the pioneers prepare for battle, unaware that the tribe's sacred idol, the Big God Ramda, has been stolen from their temple during the night. The situation turns desperate when the settlers discover that Dana Sturgis himself has been captured by the advancing warriors and will be killed if they fire upon the canoes.The Lone Ranger and Tonto arrive just in time to prevent a massacre. While Tonto warns the armed settlers not to shoot, the masked rider on his great white horse Silver races along the riverbank, riding directly in front of the war canoes. With expert marksmanship, he begins sinking the Indian craft one by one, stopping the attack without bloodshed. The mystery remains: who stole the Zuni idol, and can the Lone Ranger recover it before war erupts between the two communities?
