Pirates

Yo ho, yo ho and a bottle of rum! Pirates, buccaneers, corsairs and privateers... Everyone likes a bit of swashbuckling action and high seas adventure! Whether you're planning a Dungeons & Dragons tabletop session aboard a pirate ship or writing a scene on a charming captain, here's what you need to know (and a few things you really don't) about pirates. Settle in for a rip-roaring ride on the sketchy history of pirates, how to tell a buccaneer from a privateer, and what real-world burglars with boats were really like. Then tune in as we discuss different roles your characters can take on ships, and the likely confrontations between these different ranks – a great source of writing prompts if you're ever a little short on conflict! Speaking of prompts, we'll throw a big, juicy quest prompt your way, then build it up into a fleshed-out scenario as you listen along. You'll learn how to root your campaigns in realism, why you need to name your pirates a colour + a body part, and a bunch of interesting little details on pirates, ships, and most importantly, world-building.
