Pirates Can’t Throw Out Sid Bream | Pastball Podcast #13

from Past Ball Podcast · host Beard Laws Studio

October 14th, 1992 was a day Pirate fans like myself will never forget. Pirates are up 2-0 in the bottom of the 9th game 7 of the NLCS. The braves get a run so it is now 2-1 with Francisco Cabrera up, David Justice on Third, and ex-Pirates Sid Bream on second. Sid was not known for his speed. Cabera rips one into left field to Barry Bonds who makes a great play and fires the ball home after Justice scores tying the game. Any baseball fan thinks no way Sid makes it home on Bonds but the ball sails up the first base side and Sid scores winning the game and sending the Braves to the world series in which they lost to the Jays. Not only do the Pirates not make the World Series but the Pirates would only finish over .500 4 times after the Sid Slide and only three playoff appearances. The Joys of Being a Pirates Fan. This is Past Ball Podcast and as the Great Bob Uecker said Get Up Get Outta Here! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
