Pirates Sweep Road Series to Claim Title

East Carolina’s baseball team just clinched a share of the American Conference Regular Season Title with a dominant road sweep of Florida Atlantic, including a 13-2 run-rule win that locked them into the No. 2 seed for the conference tournament. The Pirates exploded offensively, scoring five runs in the third inning alone — forcing three pitching changes — while Luke Payne anchored the mound with five strong innings and six strikeouts. Standouts Davin Whitaker (4-for-4, HR) and Michael Kalinich (multiple extra-base hits, key RBIs) powered the offense, and the bullpen sealed the win by limiting FAU to just one run. This marks their first road conference sweep since 2025, and with a bye, they’re primed to carry this momentum into the postseason starting Friday morning.
