On the 3rd of September, 1954, two police officers arrived at a small house in Törökszentmiklós after a report that a sack of stolen clothing might be found on the property.What began as a minor theft investigation quickly escalated into one of the most disturbing criminal cases in Hungarian history.In a well, covered by a metal plate, they made a discovery that would shock not just the town, but the entire country for years.Five young girls were killed in Törökszentmiklós between 1953 and 1954. The reason given in court was a sexual motive. The person convicted was Piroska Jancsó-Ladányi.
