Plant-Based Thanksgiving Guide

from The Exam Room by the Physicians Committee · host The Physicians Committee

In this special episode of The Exam Room™, "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll sits down to dinner with television news producer Justin Stewart, who has never eaten a plant-based meal in their life, let alone for Thanksgiving! We pulled out all the stops for this and had the food catered by Michael Moon of the Washington-based DC Vegan, who whipped up an out of this world feast of veganized classics! Will the plant-based mac and "cheese," green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie be able to satisfy a skeptic? Let the games begin! Plus, surviving Thanksgiving can be tough for many who are plant-based. With only three percent of Americans identifying as vegan, there's a good chance that somewhere at their table will be looking forward to turkey. Unfortunately, a relative or friend who doesn't understand why anyone wouldn't want to put the bird on the plate can come across as being pushy and overbearing. The pressure can be enough to make you want to pluck out your own hair.  We have some tips on how to not only cope with the pressure, to get the most stalwart turkey aficionados to take a closer look at the health benefits of a plant-based diet. Hopefully, this dialogue will lead to a more harmonious dinner and healthy conversation for dessert! And yes, there are recipes!   DC Vegan dc-vegan.com Follow Twitter: @ChuckCarrollWLC / @PCRM / @ProducerStewart IG: @ChuckCarrollWLC / @PhysiciansCommittee / @dcvegancatering / @producer_stewart Share the Show Please pass along what you've learned on the show by sharing it with a friend and by subscribing on Apple Podcasts, Spotify or many other podcast providers.
