Platner’s Senate Run Turns Controversial

Maine’s Senate race is heating up as Democrat Graham Platner, eyeing a shot at Susan Collins, faces a firestorm over past online antics—explicit messages, Reddit rants calling himself a communist, anti-police rants, and a Nazi-symbol tattoo he later covered up. With the primary just days away, Platner’s wife defends him, citing the emotional toll of marriage, infertility, and a Senate run. Big Democratic names weigh in: Cory Booker demands answers, Chuck Schumer chants victory over Collins, and Bernie Sanders backs Platner, calling his opponents’ attacks proof he’s a champion of the working class—even if he’s not perfect. Meanwhile, Platner’s primary opponent, Janet Mills, though suspended, remains on the ballot, turning this race into a wild, watchable showdown.
