An Editor's Tales Anthony Trollope These 'tales' describe a series of encounters between various magazine editors and those who wish to have their works published. While containing some amusing bits, the tales are relatively grim, compared to most Trollope stories. The Turkish Bath: This editor, visiting a Turkish bath, is accosted by an Irish stranger, who, after some conversation, requests to submit a manuscript to the magazine. The editor's reactions to the solicitation and subsequent familiarity with the writer's circumstances forms the frame of the story. Humor arises about the Turkish bathing situation, and the reluctance of editors to make themselves available to amateur writers.Mary Gresley is the rather sad tale of a young girl's giving up her writing career to satisfy the deathbed wish of the curate she was engaged to. The editor, in this tale (and also in the next), became rather involved emotionally with the girl and wished her to continue writing.Josephine de Montmorenci Misfit Wisdom with Danielle O’Neill Danielle A free-spirited misfit, abstract artist, critical thinker and occasional writer who, like Fran Liebowitz, seems to have perpetual writer’s block, I talk about creativity and sometimes mental health, particularly my experience living with anxiety, the sense of urgency that pervades our crazy culture, the pressure to “fit in,” and recovery from self-sabotaging behaviors. As someone who has kept silent about my opinions for a long time, I speak my mind without apologies here. I'll also explore how we use creativity to express ourselves, learn about who we are and ultimately, to spread joy.  Trigger warnings: potential discussion of various mental health issues at times. I’m not a professional - just someone living, learning, and speaking with as much honesty as possible. My opinions are my own and are subject to change at any time as I grow and learn as a person. ☺️ The Shift with Sam Baker sam baker The Shift is a podcast that aims to tell the truth about being a woman post-40, created and hosted by writer and broadcaster, Sam Baker. Did you ever wonder why you stop hearing so many women's voices once they pass 40? That's where The Shift comes in - a frank, funny, sometimes heartbreaking, always honest look at what it means to be a woman in midlife and beyond. Work, life, love, health, sex, money, identity, body image... What does it all mean when everything around you (and inside you...) is changing? Each week, award-winning author and journalist Sam Baker asks a different woman how she got here, where she's going - and how it feels to be where she is right now. Expect intimate conversation, big laughs, occasional tears and an awful lot of ripping up the rule book and stamping on it...
