Please Don't Look This Up

Please Don't Look This Up The Streisand Effect Want to make something more popular? Tell everyone they’re not allowed to see it. In this episode of Pop Culture Roulette, the crew dives into the Streisand Effect — that wonderfully backwards phenomenon where trying to hide, ban, delete, or suppress something somehow makes everybody way more interested in it. Movies get shelved. Songs get banned. Episodes disappear. Websites get taken down. Celebrities, studios, corporations, and even governments have all tried to make things go away… only to discover that the internet has a pretty serious case of “Oh yeah? Now I REALLY want to see it.” The crew digs into some of the stranger, lesser-known, and downright bizarre examples of the phenomenon, along with a few stories that prove there may be no better way to attract attention than desperately insisting that nobody pay attention. So whatever you do… don't look this up. Seriously. Please. And while you're ignoring that advice, give the episode a listen, tell us which examples caught you off guard, and let us know what other great examples of the Streisand Effect we missed. #PopCultureRoulette #Smashland #PCR #StreisandEffect #PopCulture #PopCulturePodcast #Censorship #InternetCulture #Banned #Deleted #Cancelled #Forbidden #Viral #Movies #Music
