How does God preserve us, the inheritors, for the preserved inheritance? Believers are not passive in perserving their faith. It should be a relationship which takes two. It is a responding to the power of God in their life. God's power and grace are accessible to all men all the time, but it has conditions to it. You can resist, quench, and grieve the Holy Spirit. Being saved is not a single event in your life, but a continuation. You can't point to the single event of your salvaiton with nothing evident of salvation following it (bearing fruit). Your trusting of God began that day, but continues every day. Between the beginning of your faith and end of faith is a life of faith. Like the electricity in your house, the power is there in the powerline, but not accessed until you flip the light switch. Faith is the switch. God is the power of your spiritual life. The best evidence of enduring faith is one that grows stronger and clearer through testing. God tests us to make us stronger on the other side of testing which keeps us qualified to inherit. Faith is action (evidence), not a feeling. It will be tested. Testing purifies your faith.
