Pluto Return

from Nick Wales · host Nick Wales

Lux Tenebris (meaning ‘Light in Darkness’) is a blend of contemporary dark and ambient electronica with classical overtones. The work evolves towards the climax of 'eternal return', where the light returns. Cinematic and richly layered — evoking both shadow and illumination. Exploring how light and darkness shape our lives. I was interested in capturing the luminescence of life and the idea that beauty can be found even in the darkest places. Originally composed for a dance work of the same name in 2016 by choreographer Rafael Bonachela, commisioned by Sydney Dance Company. Thanks to Peter Daverington for the use of his epic oil paining ‘Empire’ 2010. Produced and recorded by Nick Wales at Electric Ave Sydney and Bedroom Community Iceland with; Mix engineer Bob Scott Sound Engineer Ilia Bezroukov featured musicians: Kate Moore (electric cello) Veronique Serret (electric violin) Maxine Bibeau (Double Bass) Laurence Pike (additional percussion)
