The Prime Minister has announced the federal government will establish mandatory standards for artificial intelligence -- in a highly-anticipated speech in Sydney. Anthony Albanese says the standards will be presented to state and territory leaders for agreement at National Cabinet next month, with the government aiming to legislate the regulations early next year. He says we must use A-I as an instrument to help create good jobs in Australia -- and that acting now will help ensure the technology works in our national interest. --- US President Donald Trump has backed down on his threat to begin charging a fee for shipping in the strait of Hormuz... but says Iran will still be subjected to a full naval blockade. Overnight, the US and Iran traded more strikes, which have been condemned by the UN as a 'setback for civilians in the region.' Oil prices have receded slightly from yesterday's one-month high, following the decision to allow free passage through the key shipping channel. and homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting in Sydney's north west. Emergency crews were called to Carlingford at about seven o'clock this morning, where they found a man aged in his 30s in a car with significant injuries, before he died at the scene.
