Yeah professional level But college football is alive and well Scott Frost continues to lose games as the coach in Nebraska I have no idea how that team was a 12 point 13 point 14 point favorite over northwestern over in Ireland But that game was awesome to watch that an upset what we zero yeah So aside from a little bit of college football that we can try to act like we're interested in because we are part of the Football answer so let's go ahead and dive into the stories a little bit. Oh, yeah, let's start watching some games There's a lot of that about to take place, but there's no one to fall football until next Thursday Jesus, I mean days fun 10 days 10 days until the next game and you do recall just a few years ago This was not this long of a drought of NFL football It used to be the last preseason year was coming up on this Thursday Then he got the weekend then he got the season the next one after that now It's a big break because new CBA new rules how many preseason games then COVID also came in the same time and said oh We're changing some things up So now we have about two weeks to sit here and gather our thoughts the teams have two weeks to sit there and gather their squad in Players have a little bit of time to sit down and wonder if they're gonna make a living playing football or they're gonna be selling insurance I can't wait to watch a lot of things happen in real life in the regular season because the preseason although it is a little bit of a taste Of NFL football you see magical moments ten of them to be exact that I saw this past weekend We will watch all of them in maybe hour two or hour three because we have footy dregs this year But regular season is where it really happens we have no idea for team goes undefeated in the regular preseason If they're gonna win a game in the regular season because history has told us that it doesn't matter There's teams have gone completely defeated in the preseason and then go undefeated in the regular season There's been teams that go undefeated in preseason and stink and actually go completely Duff-eated in the regular season There's are two real things that have happened in the NFL so we can't take anything serious But it has been great to see some players that we know play some football in the league that we all love I also got to watch a couple, you know a little entertainment things this week Yeah, how's the dragon episode to I watch that seems like there's some fuckery going on in that You know it's more council. Well, well, I mean first of all the majority of people want Kenny picket is their quarterback even though Trabisky showed at least Throughout training camp in that last drive two minute drive that he's probably the best guy for the job And all you gotta do is watch the offensive line for about four minutes and realize Kenny picket will be in there Somewhere near the second quarter of the Cincinnati game They still haven't gotten much better whatsoever and then you throw TJ Watt got injured and Johnson got injured and That it wins might be a difficult the thing to come by right now Really what was that with TJ playing and guys getting some time was there?

They're odds just continue to fall and no sports books have any respect for them. What's going on in Nashville Paul Koharski Well, they are not gonna be the number one seat by any means in the AFC But they're a playoff caliber team Largely because I got a coach who knows how to find a way to win games no matter what kind of parts He's got but they've got big questions on the offensive line and that wide receiver very good defense though and a running back I think who bounces back from missing half the season last year in Derek Henry I think people a little hot on the Colts quite frankly and I think the Titans still have a edge on the Colts started with my great Malik will so we know he's flash a lot made some you know special like out of the box plays in the preseason What do people there feel like with between he and Tana Hill like a people? I'm sure we're all on on board with Tana Hill, but do people feel like Malik will as might be the future someday? Yeah, starting next year, but I mean Malik will is gonna fade into the background now People are hoping he'll be the number two Which I think would put him in position to come in and some special packages throw some wrinkles at some defenses But Tana Hill's been a good regular season quarterback here despite You know he's a play action guy that works off of Derek Henry and can be very effective He hasn't elevated any receivers and he needs to do that and he steadily declined since 2019 last year through far too many picks The question starts for him in January, you know He's not as good as the stack of great AFC quarterbacks And he's been terrible in his last three playoff games He pretty much single-handed they lost that playoff game against Cincinnati while the defense was sacking Joe Burrow nine times put him in January Kenny can he do enough to win a game?
Can he do enough to win four games? No, he's not gonna get on a roll and win four games and win him a Super Bowl So, you know feel the beat is really quite I feel the beat has quite a vibe here Ryan Taney Hill probably because of a lot of what you said echoes a lot What have other people have said number one scene to play us have the most amount of players I think go in rotation due to injuries and everything else wonderful coaching job by Braves to get their team I'll have to do something during season. And if you felt that in training camp for the Titans this year Well, I think they were over it by the time training came started and they needed to be you know Everybody's got to start with a clean slate and I've washed that stuff all the way But John Robinson the general manager was still crying about it like literally he shed tears at the combine It took them a long time to the whole team to get over it I wish that they had funneled that emotion into you know producing a win with home field advantage a game away from host Name AFC championship instead of doing all the lamenting after the fact when they couldn't get it done given every advantage But they just manage what was the way they advantage was home field and a week of rest and and the Bengals who are not known for You know postseason success and nine sacks again that I mentioned that they sat your burrow nine times Yeah, it's incredible your defense showed up obviously Taney Hill went through a dark spot Maybe he'll come back even better draft a quarter another quarterback in the third round was supposed to go much higher So I'm excited to watch the evolution of the Titans This is another Taney Hill Mary other situation with Malik with how many highlights we shall see as the season goes He don't think so no, no, he's not he's not look you've seen the highlights You haven't seen the low lights and accuracies bad. Can he be the guy that replaces Sid Luckman who played slightly before the time you guys did and They need that quarterback solved the position figured out in the worst possible way We'll see I think that preseason was encouraging there were some questions in camp the offense look bumpy and practice to put it nice Obviously there's questions about the offensive line, but you have to feel good about what you put on tape in preseason You mentioned the offensive line that was always the question coming into this camp I feel like in Justin Fields do it We had enough time how do you feel now that they've had a full training camp in preseason? We're about that offensive line a lot of youth you're looking at a fifth round rookie in Braxton Jones at a southern Utah at left tackle Guys there haven't been many day three picks that have started as rookies at left tackle in the National Football League over the last couple decades Doesn't happen very often They've got youth right now on the right side of it right side of that offensive line as well So I think they want to see how that those guys can grow obviously fields can protect himself a little bit This is that rare athletic traits, but they need to improve that offensive line played poorly a year ago And you said well what the GM do not a lot of big investments You know the biggest sign in Lucas Patrick at a green Bay to play center He's out with a broken right thumb right now eight million dollar two-year contract And it's not like yeah, it's not like they poured money into the receivers either the biggest investment there Byron Pringle out of four million dollar one year Deal I said I'll highlight him last night actually him and Travis Kelsey was celebrating to Travis was like 13 or 12 in the top hundred list And I saw Pringle cover on the bottom was like we haven't talked about Pringle at all for the Chiefs turns out He's on the bed just on that that's why we do feel the beat. He should make the team better Eber Flus was known for being a big accountability guy kind of a hard-edged guy everybody's gonna work their asses off This is first time his head coach in the NFL What is the team like what is the culture like with him as opposed to maybe coaches in the past Brad Biggs?
You've touched on the right word there Pat and that's accountability because you hear people talk about culture all the time It's this corporate buzzword, you know, you know what your core your culture is in the locker room It is what your record is if you're rating nine you've got real average culture if you're 13 and 4 you've got fantastic culture if you're born 13 your culture stinks, but to me culture is about accountability and he's holding these guys accountable And what you're seeing is maximum effort and practice. I can tell you they'll practice as long as some coaches they go about 90 minutes It's about the longest practice they have but they go hard for the full 90 You see them playing hard and preseason So I think he is he's getting this thing started in the right manner And I think the players are encouraged here, too They feel like they've got an opportunity to get in on the ground floor here. Okay, I should make owner of the Green Bay Packers Brad the Defense, you know, kind of all the stalwart pieces have been stripped a lot of those guys aren't there anymore We don't necessarily know what's happening with real cons myth You think there's more concern about the defense or the offense going into this year But the offense this team hasn't had the quarterback situation figured out forever and we talked about the offensive line and dar now Moonies the only real proven consistent threat I think of why receiver so way more questions about the office But I think there are fair questions about the defense can they rush the passer can Robert Quinn pick up where he left off last season When he said a franchise record for the Bears with 18 and a half sacks You look at Robert Quinn's career history guys He's been a fantastic pass record a week for a long time He hasn't put together back-to-back seasons of really getting after the quarterback since I think you got to go back to 2013 2014 How is he as an edge guy? They've rebuilt the secondary two rookies to keep an eye on Tyler Gordon out of Washington and Jekwan Brisker the safe He had a Penn State those are a couple pretty good players.
What about real corn Smith? I know time mentioned him anything new are they are they like will they continue to talk as any chances there after this season? Chance how does he play? Let's see him play that will line back or position in this scheme Lance Briggs played that position in a very high level Seven Pro Bowls as a member of the Bears under Lovey Smith I think real corn has an opportunity to be more of a playmaker in this scheme than he was in the previous scheme But we've got to see him on the field We've got to see him do it They've got the franchise tag at their disposal after this season It's a little tricky though that tag number for linebackers next year in 23 should be north of $20 million You really want to put that big of a figure on it guy who isn't an edge rusher Okay last question here Brad we can't thank you for joining us Brad's been covering the Bears for 21 years It's a long time you know your ins and outs obviously NFC North football is not easy especially with How many wins this year Brad for the Chicago Bears?
