Pocomucho Daily — Friday 7 August 2026
from Pocomucho Daily
Friday, August 7th, 2026. I'm your host Ben DMZ. From Ibiza, this is Pocomucho Daily. It's eclipse week on the island, and Ibiza is leaning all the way in. Café Mambo is hosting a solar eclipse event this coming week — promising something genuinely out of this world, their words. Over at Beachouse Ibiza, Guy Gerber will be soundtracking the rare 2026 total solar eclipse with his atmospheric house sets. Dancing in the dark takes on a whole new meaning. And Pikes gets in on it too — DJ Harvey headlines an Eclipse Special as part of the Pikes Presents series, Tuesday nights at 528 Ibiza, digging deep into the music that made this island what it is. Darker Than Wax is turning 15 and doing it properly. The Singapore and New York-based label kicked off its anniversary celebrations earlier this year with parties in Singapore, Seoul and Bangkok. The global run now extends to New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and a return to Singapore. A label tour that actually spans the globe — respect. Over in Berlin, Kater Blau invited a writer to visit the club on the Spree riverbank to talk about discounted tickets for younger guests. What she found was something more layered — a space where past and present merge, built around what the club describes as the spaces in between. Berlin doing Berlin things. This week's records worth your attention: new music from Benabou on Blank Mind, Efdemin on Dekmantel, Erik Jabari on his own imprint, Nikki Nair on dh2, and Satoshi Tomiie on Dubwax. A solid spread across the spectrum. Ibiza Global Radio has announced a partnership with UNTOLD Festival, as the Romanian festival unveils what it's calling its most spectacular main stage yet. The French hard music scene is mobilising in response to wildfires in the South West of France, putting together a 24-hour charity stream with a host of DJs to support the victims. Thomas Bangalter has been speaking about artificial intelligence. The Daft Punk co-founder, in a conversation with Chanel Arts at Art Basel, said he is — his words — "not really interested in the creative usage of artificial intelligence." Make of that what you will. On September 5th, the Mile High Club returns to Nuremberg Airport, transforming the venue into a party destination for the night. Runways, presumably not included. And in stranger news — Swiss customs officers discovered kilograms of cocaine hidden inside lollipops, allegedly brought back by a 68-year-old man. An unusual souvenir choice, by any measure. OK NOW, what's good this weekend in Ibiza? At Hï, Dom Dolla headlines alongside DJ Boring, Confidence Man, Airwolf Paradise, Ewan McVicar, Chaos in the CBD and DJ Paulette. At Pacha, Marco Carola presents Music On with Dennis Cruz, Prospa and Davide Squillace. And Amnesia is throwing a Glitterbox night to remember — Flight Facilities, Groove Armada on a DJ set, Honey Dijon, Derrick Carter and the heavyweight finale of Moodymann back to back with Carl Craig. That one's going to be special. Looking ahead to the weekend: Saturday, Claptone brings The Masquerade to Chinois with Deep Dish. Elrow lands at Universe with De La Swing, Easttown and Nic Fanciulli. And ANTS takes over Hï with Green Velvet, Patrick Topping, SG Lewis and Omri. Sunday, Universe hosts Carl Cox, Luciano, Ilario Alicante and Tini Gessler. And Cova Santa's Pantheøn night brings D.O.D., Disciplines, Francisco Allendes and Matthias Tanzmann. That's all folks! Curated by me, narrated by my AI voice.
