Pod#34 - Climate Change in Pakistan

from TPR Pod · host TPR Pod

We're back after our break with an episode we've been wanting to do for a long time. Climate Change and Pakistan. The reality of climate change is clear in its effects. What we may not realize is how little people around us actually know and how many things in Pakistan need to be urgently addressed to bring about a hoped reduction in temperature rise over the near future. We talk with Ahmad Rafay Alam, Sara Hayat and Dawar Butt about the current situation in Pakistan, the awareness among people, the awareness among government and other key stakeholders, the clear and present indicators of climate change that are already here and what needs to be done moving forward. This is a long podcast and we urge you to listen to it in its entirety so that you get as much information as possible that can help you make the changes you can make in your day to day life. We will also be making Climate Change a regular part of our programming and have future episodes with these people, people from Climate Action PK and others. Things discussed in this episode: 1. Climate Change is a personal issue since all affected 2. Pakistan cannot afford to be complacent with melting glaciers, flooding Sindh & smog-filled Punjab 3. Planting trees won't solve problems caused by bad fuel being used by our transport and energy sectors 4. Install solar, sell electricity back to grid! And much more!
