Pod 6 - American generations, governance and early complex society

We start our conversations with my friends book on American generations. We dive into examining how societal perceptions and cultural norms have evolved over time by addressing common misconceptions about generational differences and their impact on political landscapes and social values. We find a cheeky way to give a shout out to the movie "Independence" day and even more so to "Idiocracy" and it's wonderful Costco history museum. After a muddled description of Louis Althusser's theories on capitalist ideology we quickly move in to topics of early social organization, and the formation of social power structures and institutions, hierarchy and hegemony. We conclude with the importance of the lessons of the past, knowledge in general and lack of anthropology education rather then empathy in the world. And yes, I give my very controversial take on Bronze Age warfare....
