This article has me wondering whether the days of significantly improving TV technology will end in the near future. Why spend money on technology upgrades or picture quality when there is more money to made by turning cheap televisions into advertising platforms.  For videophiles, maybe there will only be one or two brands with fewer high picture quality models to choose from with much higher prices.
