Podcast 5 The Inevitability of Electric Cars

from Randall van Poelvoorde on Tech & Robots · host Randall van Poelvoorde

Send a textWhat I want to discuss with you today is why electric cars, regardless of what some may say, are inevitable. Let me start by explaining what I mean by inevitable. I mean that around the year 2035, it's highly likely that 90% of new cars sold will be electric. This also means that at that time, there will still be a lot of gasoline cars on the road. A car typically lasts about 10 years or longer before it's replaced, so before all cars on the road are electric, we'll be looking at the year 2050. And yes, there will be certain situations where a gasoline vehicle still works better, but those will be rare exceptions.I want to explain the inevitability with three arguments. The first argument is cost, the second is the environment, and the third is consumer value. In other words, it's simply nicer to drive an electric car.You want to book me for a keynote?
