The current labor shortages are demographically based, thus structural and growing. It is simply a fact that the generation currently working is smaller than the previous one. Consequently, as our economies grow rapidly, more people are needed and fewer are available. The shortage of people and labor is indeed a problem that we need to solve. We have partially solved this with immigration and will continue to do so to some extent in the Netherlands, but it will not be enough. Other countries do not even have the luxury of immigration as a solution.
