#PODCAST Challenges of alcohol use to be discussed at the 7th Global Alcohol Policy Conference in Cape Town #sabcnews

By Newsbreak Producer Taliesha Naidoo - Discussions on the role alcohol plays in gender-based violence and alcohol pricing policies are expected to take centre stage next week when South Africa hosts the 7th Global Alcohol Policy Conference in Cape Town. The event, which will run between 24 - 26 October, will be held under the theme: "Investing in people before profits: building momentum towards the Framework Convention on Alcohol Control". The biennial gathering aims to emphasise the need for proactive steps at both national and global levels to address alcohol harms. It comprises of several plenaries that will be led by some of the world's leading researchers, activists, and scientists. The Southern African Alcohol Policy Alliance (SAAPA) is a co-host of the conference.
