Treasury issued cost-control guidelines for government departments as part of an effort to manage spending leading up to the mid-term Budget in November. These guidelines, communicated through a letter to all national departments, address fiscal challenges and propose cost-cutting measures on government travel, conferences, and catering, amongst others. However, members from the hospitality industry says although the bid to reduce government spending is well-intended, it will have a negative impact on the sector. Alan Campbell, Marketing Director at ANEW Hotels & Resorts says the industry is still recovering from the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and the guidelines could jeopardise job opportunities in the sector...
