The President earlier this year nominated Maya for the position. She was the sole candidate interviewed by the Commission in a sitting this week. The incumbent, Chief Justice Raymond Zondo is set to retire in August. Freedom Under Law Research Consultant, Chris Oxtoby says the JSC backing comes as no surprise. He began by discussing Maya's recent concerns around Zondo's decision to appoint retired judges to assist with workload issues...
