Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana tabled the 2024 Budget at City Hall in Cape Town. Government has revealed that its total consolidated spending will amount to two-point-three- trillion rand in the 2024-25 financial year. It has indicated this year's Budget allocates six of every ten rands to social wages. Government further notes that a budget surplus has been achieved for the first time since 2008, however 57-billion-rand in additional resources will be provided to preserve staffing levels in the health and education, as well as peace and security functions.
