I speak to Helen Tonks.    Helen is the vision and drive behind the growth of the multi award-winning Hydraulics Online brand; from a business start-up with a blank sheet of paper to the DIT Northern Powerhouse Export Champion and global provider of today - serving customers across 20 sectors in 130 countries around the world.    She loves making things happen and making every day count, and thrives on collaboration.     Supporting and mentoring others, and championing SMEs has always been a passion ‘passion project’ of Helen’s, and in 2021 Manchester Metropolitan University approached her asking her to support their delivery of the Government’s Help to Grow Management Programme. In saying ‘yes’, the time had come to formalise what she had already been doing for so long: her second business, InspiresMe Consulting Ltd, was born.  A strong advocate of business and education working more closely together, in her 'spare time' Helen is actively involved in local and regional education. This work, alongside her other achievements, has led her to be recognised within the Northern Power Women 2022 Power List.    Helen admits to being naturally restless, but that's because she juggle the whole work-life balance with being 'mum' to seven.
