In his State of the Nation Address earlier this year, President Cyril Ramaphosa said an estimated twenty million people in the country go to bed hungry every night. National food rescue and hunger relief organisation, SA Harvest, is taking a revolutionary approach to ending hunger and addressing the systemic causes of food insecurity. The non-profit organisation, with a presence in six provinces, collects food that otherwise would have been sent to the landfills. The food is collected from farmers, manufacturers, retailers and anyone else in the food chain who has excess nutritious food to donate. The organisations CEO and founder, Alan Browde says a significant amount of food is wasted in the country, which could easily be used to feed millions of hungry people...
