That's according to Kwame Senou, founder of THOP Institute - a think tank committed to fostering Africa's economic and human development. Last week, the military seized power in Gabon shortly after President Ali Bongo had been declared the winner of a disputed election. Bongo, who had been president since 2009 has been placed under house arrest while General Brice Oligui Nguema has been sworn in as a Transitional President. Since 2020, there have been several coups in African countries including Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger. Senou says these coups threaten the democratisation process that the continent has undergone in the past two decades...
