Israel has blamed the Islamic Jihad militant group for the strike on a hospital in Gaza City that health authorities there say killed hundreds of people. But the Gaza Health Ministry blamed Israel for the attack while Hamas called the strike "a horrific massacre". Earlier estimates put the death toll at more than 500 although these numbers could not be independently verified. The explosion at the Al-Ahli Arabi Baptist Hospital was reportedly a scene of chaos while the overall death toll in Gaza has now eclipsed 3000 with scores more injured.
