Podcast: Kent farmers having to adapt as amber heat health alert comes into force during third heatwave of the summer

from KentOnline · host KentOnline, Nicola Everett

With an amber heat health alter coming into force for Kent today, a farmer says the warm weather could be disastrous for this year's harvest. We're into our third heatwave of the summer with temperatures again in the 30s. There's hardly been any rain either. Hear from Jos Jones who runs a farm near Meopham and has been speaking to Lucy. Also in today's podcast, the Reform UK leader of Kent County Council says she supports Nigel Farage's decision to trigger a by-election in Clacton. He's standing down and will run to re-gain his seat following scrutiny over undeclared donations. He denies any wrongdoing, and was pitching the vote as a “people versus the establishment” contest. The boss of a pub near Faversham fears her family could end up losing their home if the road outside is closed for major water works. South East Water want to shut Head Hill Road in Graveney for up to five months to replace 700 metres of water main. Reporter Max Chesson has been speaking to Katrina Goater who runs The Four Horseshoes. And, a former Kent MP says a new facility in Maidstone will help people who use prosthetics turn their lives around. The centre has been specially designed to support more than a thousand patients across the county who've lost a limb, and get them on the road to recovery. Hear from Craig Mackinlay who lost his hands and feet to sepsis. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
