By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - Insurance crime or insurance fraud costs the local industry billions per year and if it continues unabated, it could soon impact the affordability of insurance for everyday South Africans. That's according to Dr Jerry Chetty, Head of Business Integrity at Santam. In simple terms. insurance fraud is any act committed to defraud an insurance process. It occurs when a claimant attempts to obtain some benefit or advantage they're not entitled to. Dr. Chetty says insurance crime has evaded the label of "organised crime", but it's serious and is certainly not victimless...
