To kvůli němu - a chystanému politickému procesu proti katolické církvi - byl Josef Toufar ze své fary unesen do valdické kartouzy a stal se číslem 8016. Psychickým a především fyzickým terorem sedmi příslušníků Instruktážní skupiny Státní bezpečnosti byl nucen k falešnému doznání. Josef Toufar výslechové metody nepřežil. Nevinný, který měl zmizet z paměti - a jemuž tajní sebrali život a po smrti i jméno - se nepřestává vracet. Jeho příběh se ozývá jako opakovaný výkřik a stává se nepřehlédnutelnou součástí moderních českých dějin.
