By Newsbreak Intern Nomzamo Xulu - Teacher union, Naptosa, says the current system used by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education for government vacancies is failing those seeking employment in education sector and learners. This comes after the KZN MEC for Education Mbali Frazer confirmed in a written parliamentary reply to questions by the Democratic Alliance that more three-thousand government funded vacancies have not been filled by the department. These included 685 posts for principals, 389 for deputy principals,1215 positions for departmental heads and 909 posts for teachers. CEO for Naptosa in KZN, Thirona Moodley says the financial situation of the department is driving qualified teachers with a passion for education to other countries to pursue their careers...
