By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - The recently launched South African Reserve Bank subsidiary - the Corporation for Deposit Insurance Scheme (CODI) are hoping to bring further confidence and stability to the country's financial sector. CODI is part of SA's "financial safety net" and will administer a deposit insurance scheme, designed to safeguard the most vulnerable in our society. This scheme will provide cover of up to R100,000 for qualifying depositors, should a bank fail. CODI officials were present in Durban this week at the SARB Forum, previously known as the Monetary Policy Forum (MPF). Sabihah Mohammed is the CODI CEO.
