By Newsbreak Producer Hoosen Ebrahim - The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse (OUTA) has lambasted the city of Johannesburg for its new drive to collect unpaid rates and service bills from indebted ratepayers at roadblocks. With this drive, the city plans to post finance officers at certain roadblocks in an effort to collect outstanding revenue for water, electricity, rates and taxes. OUTA CEO Wayne Duvenage says it's not acceptable as Jo'burg roads are already heavily congested at roadblocks. He says a motorists cannot be arrested for unpaid council bills on any public road... *The city of Jo'burg were not available to comment at the time of this broadcast.
