By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - South Africa's next generation of Grade 8 and 9 learners have begun their journeys into the fascinating world of robotics, through an initiative that's been dubbed the first phase of tech support for various schools in the country. Facilitated by the Shoprite Foundation, two fully equipped robotics laboratories are now functional at the Mountview and Verulam Secondary Schools in KwaZulu-Natal, forming part of a R1.6million investment. The labs include everything both learners and teachers need, from micro-controllers and actuators to gyroscopes. Indran Govender is the Principal of the Mountview Secondary. He explains how investing in future-fit education ensures that youth leave school and are able to contribute to this modern-day economy...
