#PODCAST Reservoir Hills residents call for urgent intervention on the ongoing water outages experienced #sabcnews
from Newsbreak · host SABC News and Current Affairs
By Newsbreak Producer Tracy Valaydham - Residents in Reservoir Hills in Durban are calling for urgent intervention on the ongoing water outages the community has been experiencing over the past week. In an interview done with Newsbreak yesterday, Reservoir Hills Ratepayer's Association's Chairperson - Ish Prahlad says residents are being denied a basic human right due to the constant water outages. Meanwhile, DA councilor for Ward 23 in Reservoir Hills, Alicia Kissoon says the ageing infrastructure is one of the main contributors to the recent water outages affecting parts of area. Kissoon says she has been in constant communication with the city to resolve the water issue... UPDATE: In a written statement to Newsbreak, the City apologized to affected residents and said the Water and Sanitation Department is aware of the incident in Morel Road. However, the City says this is an isolated case due to a burst water pipe on the road. Plumbers were immediately dispatched, after the incident was reported and had to dig manually for two consecutive days to isolate and fix the water leak. This labor-intensive process unfortunately took longer than expected. We apologize for the inconvenience caused while the water leak was being fixed.
