Podcast: Residents concerned about roadworks on the A251 Ashford Road which will see a slip road off the M2 closed for almost a month

from KentOnline · host Nicola Everett, KentOnline

Residents have raised concerns about a motorway slip road near Faversham being closed for several weeks as part of a house building project. Developer Redrow is currently building an estate in the town known as Preston Fields. At the moment, access to the site is via Canterbury Road along the A2, however, they're going to create a second entrance via Ashford Road. Once complete, it will be situated a few hundred metres from Junction 6 of the M2 but while the work takes place, the coastbound slip road will be shut. Also in today's podcast, a man who made £185,000 from smuggling people from the UK to France has been jailed. Jaskirat Singh was arrested and charged after officers found 11 Indian nationals hiding in the trailer of a lorry at Dover in December 2024. A mum from Leybourne who lost her baby is fundraising for a memorial garden to help other grieving families. 18 months after her son Dexter was born sleeping, Emily Rollinson is pushing to create the 'safe space' at Tunbridge Wells Hospital. Historian David Starkey has given KentOnline a tour of his Kent home as he prepares to sell up after more than 20 years. The Georgian house in Barham near Canterbury is Grade II listed, has seven bedrooms, four bathrooms, four reception rooms, a bespoke library and about three-quarters of an acre of mature gardens. It's on the market for £1.85million. Finally, a tennis tournament with a difference is taking place near Ashford this weekend. The sunrise to sunset game is happening at Wye tennis club to raise money for two charities. Hear from a coach there who will be playing for 17 hours. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
