This is according to a recent report by Climate Central, a non-profit science research group. The report says burning fossil fuels that release planet-warming gases like carbon dioxide, and other human activities, caused the unnatural warming from November 2022 to October 2023. The average global temperature was 1.3 degrees Celsius higher than the pre-industrial climate between 1850–1900. Scientists are concerned that this number is extremely close to the limit countries agreed not to go over in the Paris Agreement which is set at a 1.5-degrees Celsius rise. Dr Christopher Trisos from the Climate Risk Lab at the University of Cape Town says if something is not done within the next decade, there will be dire consequences...
