They are demanding to be paid on the same scale as workers of all other metros in the country. The busy Springfield and Umgeni Roads in Durban have been temporarily closed due to ongoing protest action by some of the municipal workers. These roads have been barricaded with burning tyres, which caused a huge traffic jam. One municipal worker - Thembinkosi Simamane - was injured during the protest when police fired rubber bullets to disperse the angry protestors. Earlier in the day protestors were also throwing rubbish in front of vehicles on KE Masinga Road in the Durban CBD. SABC reporter Khalesakhe Mbhense is there and has an update...
