#PODCAST State questions the validity of evidence given by Phoenix father accused of torching his family to death

By Newsbreak Producer, Taliesha Naidoo - Murder accused Kista Chetty is being cross examined at length in the Durban High Court around how his house was set on fire in Phoenix in 2021, that led to the deaths of his wife and four children. In his affidavit presented to court through his lawyer earlier in the trial, Chetty said he had doused himself in petrol to set himself alight in an attempt to commit suicide. Today, Prosecutor Krishen Shah asked Chetty why he took off his shirt when he realised he was burning, if his intention was to kill himself. Chetty is charged with five counts of murder, six counts of attempted murder and arson. He has pleaded not guilty to all the charges....
