By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - Seen by health-care experts as an important medical calendar highlight, World Stroke Day on Sunday the 29th October looks to mobilise the global community to raise awareness and drive action on stroke prevention. According to global statistics, one in four of us will have a stroke in our lifetime. And 90% of those strokes could be prevented by addressing a small number of risk factors including high blood pressure (hypertension), irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), smoking, diet and exercise. World Stroke Day forms part of World Stroke Week - commemorated between the 28th October and the 3rd November. In this report Matthew found out more about the prevalence of strokes and how people can identify some of its warning signs...
