#PODCAST Today marks World Rabies Day, held under the theme "Rabies: All for 1, One Health for All" #sabcnews

By Newsbreak Producer Matthew Veeran - Building on the success of last year's "Zero by 30" campaign, the focus remains firm on how to achieve the Global Alliance for Rabies Control's goal of zero deaths by 2030 on World Rabies Day today. The World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates that rabies causes 59,000 human deaths per year, 95% of which occur in Africa and Asia. Now, people are being urged to vaccinate their companion animals and educate those around them on the various rabies prevention measures. Dr Tarryn Dent from global health company Zoetis South Africa says this year's theme is "All for 1, One Health for All" a nod to a famous line from the Alexandre Dumas novel, The Three Musketeers...
