Podmas 8 Principle 1 of Kwanzaa: Umoja
from Harbour for the Arts · host Bridgette Cooper Mezzo Soprano
I went to my first Kwanzaa celebration about 20 years ago. In my family we usually celebrate Junkanoo and Boxing Day so going to a Kwanzaa celebration was new to me. It was such a beautiful event filled with so much hope. The wonderful thing about Kwanzaa is you do not have to feel intimidated by it. I have been to Kwanzaa gatherings where the entire community gathers and people of all races participate. What this episode covers
I don't usually celebrate Kwanzaa, but researching this episode made me realize the value of why it is important to not only acknowledge it but celebrate it. Today's episode we are discussing the first principal, Umoja.
