from BEYOND THE OBVIOUS · host Purushothaman C

POEM FROM TAMIL LITERATURE THAT BRINGS OUT THE DEEP AGONY EXPERIENCED BY A LOVE SICK WOMAN The aesthetic part of the poem AGONIZING NIGHT  is that the girl could hear the muffled sound of the chiming of a cow’s bell as the cow is trying to drive out the buzzing flies and in her anxiety wanted to know whether any other soul in the village could hear the sound. AGONIZING NIGHT My eyes can't control my tears I can't bear this torment furthermore, the horrid isolation of this bitter cold winter night. Cold Showers pour incessantly what's more, the gnawing winds blow hard through the downpour. Each time the cow sways her head to keep at bay  the buzzing flies Her bells start chiming softly. will there be any other individual in this town who hears that melodic sound
